Magnetic plywood drawer dividers
Our customer needed sturdy and flexible drawer dividers to create more order in her kitchen. Unfortunately, many commercially available designs weren't suitable. She came up with the idea of making her own magnetic drawer dividers out of plywood.
Perfectly fitting, flexible & stable - DIY magnetic drawer dividers
The customer used the following materials for the implementation:
- 6 mm thick plywood, the length and width should match the drawer
- possibly Wood paint to enhance the plywood boards
- 24 x Cone magnet with eyelet Ø 17 x 22 mm NEODYMIUM - gray - holds 3.5 kg (8 cone magnets per plywood board)
- 1 x Wall strip Ferro strip self-adhesive white 50 cm - MAULstandard
- Double-sided mounting tape - extra strong
Installing magnetic plywood drawer dividers - here's how!
The drawer dividers are installed as follows:
- Have the plywood boards cut to the appropriate size at a hardware store. Paint the plywood boards with wood paint.
- Attach magnets to the back of the drawer. The drawer is made of metal. The magnets attract each other.
- The front of the drawer is made of wood. The ferro strip was glued to it with a small piece of mounting tape. This was cut to size with scissors.
- The magnetic plywood drawer dividers were inserted into the drawers and arranged as desired.
