Useful addition for a bbq fire disc

Using pot magnets and hooks, our customer built a useful addition to a fire pit. He was missing a hook holder or a shelf for grilling food. The existing tools on the pit are impractical. They get in the way when grilling.

Useful addition for a bbq fire disc

Attach fasteners underneath the fire pit using strong, heat-resistant magnets.

Our customer used the following materials for the magnetic hooks and cutting board:

Cutting board construction

Ferrite pot magnets mounted on cutting board

Useful addition to a fire disc - hook

The customer built this useful addition to a fire disc as follows:

  • Mount a 32 mm Ø ferrite pot magnets as a hook holder. Screw in the M4 hook.
  • Attach to the underside of the fire disc.
  • To construct the cutting board, hardwood boards were cut to lengths of 2 cm x 50 cm and 2 cm x 30 cm.
  • The cutting board was mounted using screws and brackets. The customer attached the 57 mm diameter ferrite pot magnets to one side of the cutting board.
  • On the other side, one of the strips was attached as a finishing strip (prevents the cutting board from slipping out).

Caution: neodymium magnets are not suitable for this application! Please use ferrite magnets!
The maximum operating temperature of neodymium magnets is too low; the heat from the disc would cause the magnets to lose their magnetic properties. Ferrite magnets withstand the temperature of the fire disk.

BOARDS 40 cm x 30 cm, 40 cm x 40 cm, or even 40 cm x 50 cm can now be placed on this substructure as desired!

With this DIY addition, everything can be easily attached with magnets and removed again after use. No tools required!
