What parent hasn't experienced this? You want safe and age-appropriate magnetic building blocks for your children, but due to the small particles in commercially available models, these are not suitable for children under 3 years old. These swallowable particles pose a serious danger. To avoid this danger, our customer decided to make "magnetic building blocks" for his son.

Magnets fascinate even the youngest among us. However, as they are small and easily swallowed, they are not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
So I made "Magic Building Blocks" for my son so that he can gain his first experiences with magnets in a playful way, even as a toddler.

The risk of injury from magnets is very high and, especially in small children, not immediately apparent.

The basis for the magnetic building blocks is our disc magnet Ø 15.0 x 15.0 mm N45 nickel - holds 14.4 kg.

The customer described his application as follows: 

He First, cubes of various sizes were sawn from a beechwood strip (square). The large cubes have an edge length of 35 mm and the small ones 23 mm. The diagonal of these cubes is 32.5 mm. The size corresponds to the DIN EN 71 standard for toys for children under 3 years. Holes for the magnets were drilled into the centers of the cubes using a 15 mm wood drill. The depth is 25 mm for the large cubes and 22 mm for the small cubes. These measurements ensure that the magnets are placed in the center of the cubes. Tenons with a minimum diameter of 15 mm were turned from a beechwood rod and shortened. After the magnets were inserted into the cubes, these tenons are slightly longer than the remaining hole. He hammered these tenons into the corresponding holes and glued them together for security. The excess and edges were sanded cleanly.

Absolutely child-safe magnetic building blocks

Due to their strength, the magnets are still strong enough even through the large wooden cubes, so the effect is magical for children. The attraction of the smaller cubes is stronger, making them wonderful for playing on a glass table, for example, where a magnet can be moved through the top, either hanging or lying down. Additionally, the magic building blocks can be painted in any color you like. However, be sure to use a child-friendly paint, as children often put their toys in their mouths.
