Table for the camper
Our customers needed a small table in their VW camper that could be used both indoors and outdoors. Unfortunately, the camper didn't have a mount for such a table. However, they found some space between a cupboard and the tailgate of the camper that they could use for safe and space-saving storage.
For their project, they used the following materials:
Table for the camper
- 4 x Metal disc Ø 27 mm with hole and countersink nickel
- 3 x Neodymium pot magnet Ø 25.0 x 8.0 mm with counterbore holds 17 kg
- 1 suitable table, in this case with dimensions W x D x H 73 x 51 x 70 cm
- Matching screws
- Felt pad to protect against friction

The four metal discs were screwed onto the cabinet. To match, we attached three neodymium pot magnets to the underside of the table, each mounted on two wooden discs. The difficulty was that the table's 15 mm thick MFD (medium fiber density) plate didn't hold the M4 screws particularly well – the cabinet (also 15 mm thick) is made of more stable plywood. On the other hand, the load on the magnets isn't particularly high, even when removing the table. And three magnets, each with a holding force of 17 kg, adequately secure the table in an upright position (the fourth metal disc on the cabinet serves only as a symmetrical decoration). Felt pads are glued to the table in a few places to prevent chafing. The table can now be easily pulled upwards from the inside, even with the tailgate closed.
