Magnetic lamp
In today's magnet application, we would like to show you how our customer built a mobile magnetic lamp.
Magnetic lamp
These materials were used:
- 2 x SmCo Disc magnet Ø 10.0 x 5.0 mm S280 nickel - holds 2 kg
- 3 x Disc magnet Ø 5.0 x 2.0 mm N40 nickel - holds 650 g
- 3 x staples for the lid
- Wood, type of your choice, dimensions L 14 cm x W 6.5 cm x D 4 cm
- 1 x 3 watt 700 mA high-power LED with aluminum heat sink
- 1 x battery compartment with parallel connection for 2 18650 lithium batteries
- 2 x 18650 lithium batteries
- 12-volt switch
- LED Constant current driver (e.g., LD06AJSA)
- 6 x screws
- Aluminum sheet strips for the LED and bracket, as shown in the photo
- One red cable and one black cable each
- Soldering accessories for wiring and fastening
Tools required for building the magnetic lamp:
- Cordless screwdriver
- 5mm wood drill bit
- 10mm metal drill bit
- Chisel or gouge for hollowing out the battery compartment
- Sandpaper
The following steps were taken to create the mobile magnetic lamp, made of wood and aluminum:
- The housing contains two lithium batteries connected in parallel and a constant current source chip. A 3-watt LED is located on the front.
- An aluminum bracket is located at the end of the lamp. Glue two samarium-cobalt disc magnets into it.
- The battery cover is also closed with magnets.
- The staples are also located on this cover.
- The bracket is made of aluminum so that the entire lamp is not magnetic.
- The magnets are each attached with opposite poles, once with the north pole side and once with the south pole side, to improve the magnetic holding force.
