Magnetic shaving soap holder

We received a truly unusual application from our customer: magnetically attached shaving soap. He uses cone and disc magnets to keep his shaving soap in place in the bowl – otherwise, the soap would constantly slide back and forth.

Since I wet shave, I use shaving soap in the bowl. After a certain amount of wear, the shaving soap no longer sticks to the bowl, but rotates whenever I want to lather up the soap with my shaving brush. However, if the shaving soap rotates, it's no longer possible to create a lather with the shaving brush.

To prevent the shaving soap from rotating, I attached neodymium  cone magnet to the inside of the bowl. However, since my current shaving bowl is made of stainless steel, it itself isn't magnetic. Therefore, I attached a disc magnet Ø 15.0 x 3.0 mm N45 nickel - holds 2.9 kg to the outside of the bowl, so that the magnets now hold each other in place.

Now I can press my shaving soap into the cone magnets in the bowl, thus securing it. The last bar of shaving soap no longer rotates.

This solution can also be used with plastic containers/bowls.

Simple, inexpensive, and serves its purpose exactly - that's what ideas should be!
