Magnetic metal removal from ashes
Our customer describes two ways he successfully removed metal from ash using magnetic means.
This process is usually a very messy and time-consuming undertaking.
Magnetic metal removal from ashes
The following tools were used:
- 1 x Power eyelet magnet Ø 80 mm NEODYMIUM - nickel - holds 250 kg
- 2 Containers (small buckets) - made of plastic
- 1 Container for scrap metal
- 1 Container for the magnet

The customer proceeded as follows:
Application number 1:
Removing metal (screws, nails, wire, etc.) from the ashes of a campfire
- Allow the ash to cool long enough
- Place the magnet in a non-metallic container
- Move this magnet over the ashes or pull it through the ashes
- Hold the first container over the second container. Remove the magnet upwards. Scrap metal falls into the collection container.
- Repeat the process as often as desired until all metal residue has been removed.
Please note the following:
- The magnet should not have direct contact with the material being cleaned.
- The magnet's adhesive force is very high.
- Some metallic objects are difficult to remove.
- The ash would also contaminate the magnet. The two containers keep it nice and clean.
What to avoid:
- Crushing your fingers!
Tidying up your garage or workshop
Application number 2:
Waste separation, tidying up your garage and workshop, removing small metal parts such as screws, nails, and nuts, and metal shavings from milling or drilling.
- Place the magnet in a non-metallic container.
- Circle it over the floor/area.
- Hold the first container over the second container. Remove the magnet upwards. Scrap metal falls into the collection container.
- Repeat the process as often as necessary until no metal residue remains.
What to keep in mind:
- If there is more metal and machinery in the workshop and garage, a weaker magnet is sufficient.
- The risk of crushing is somewhat reduced by using a weaker magnet.
- Sticking to other objects is also reduced by using a weaker magnet.
