Pinboard magnets as game pieces

The topic of today's magnet application is: Pinboard magnets as game pieces.
Our customer recreated a stable and durable replica of the classic game "Ludo" at home. Our magnets were used as the game pieces.

Pinboard magnets as game pieces

These materials and magnets were used to create the game board:

• Wooden board (square)
• Saw
• Stain
• Metal sheet (also square, about 5 cm smaller than the board)
• Metal drill and milling cutter
• Sandpaper
• Felt
• Glue
• Screws and Screwdriver
• Yellow, red, blue, green, and white for the game board
• Gold and silver varnish or paint for the dice
• Dice
• White pen for the dots on the dice
• Metal containers for storing the dice
• 4 each small cone magnet Ø 12 mm blue - holds 1.6 kg, small cone magnet Ø 12 mm red - holds 1.6 kg, small cone magnet Ø 12 mm yellow - holds 1.6 kg, small cone magnet Ø 12 mm green - holds 1.6 kg
  Its adhesive force of 1.6 kg per cone magnet is just right for this application.

Instructions for making the game board:

• Cut the wooden board to the desired size, treat it with glaze, and let it dry.
• Mill out the required holes for the game pieces along the metal sheet.
• Use the drill to drill a hole in each corner of the sheet for fastening.
• Put arrows in the direction of the playing field. Mill out the respective starting point.
• Sharp edges may need to be sanded slightly.
• Fix the finished metal sheet to the wooden board with the screws.
• Paint the milled holes in the corresponding colors using red, yellow, white, blue, and green.

Pinboard magnets as Game Pieces

• Apply felt to the underside of the magnetic pins using adhesive - this reduces the adhesive force of the small but strong magnets. This will not affect their functionality.
• Paint the dice with gold and silver paint or varnish and let them dry.
• Use a white marker to trace the corresponding number on all dice.
• Paint metal containers gold and silver and let them dry thoroughly. These will be used to store the corresponding dice.
