Magnetic filter holder on the aquarium
In today's magnet application, we'd like to show you how to create and attach a magnetic filter holder to your aquarium using our products. This idea and implementation were submitted to us by a 14-year-old boy. I was looking for a way to attach a filter to my 100-liter aquarium. The suction cups lose their strength after a while and no longer stick to the glass pane. Gluing the filter in place with aquarium silicone wasn't a solution for me either. I wanted the filter to remain movable as needed. I came up with the idea of gluing the magnets directly onto the filter.
Magnetic filter holder on the aquarium

The following materials were used here:
- 2 cm wide, fine filter mat
- Aquarium silicone
- 8 Neodymium magnet 25.4 x 12.7 x 6.3 mm with plastic coating - black - 3.8 kg
Our customer describes his application as follows:
- The filter is held to the outer pane of the aquarium with additional magnets.
- First, I glued a building block with aquarium silicone to the magnet as a spacer.
- I did this four times to ensure the force The magnets are also sufficient to support the entire water filter, including the pump and heating element.
- After 24 hours, the silicone had cured.
- I then glued the four magnets and spacers to the filter.
- I cut a thin filter mat to a width of 2 cm. This will be attached to the side of the filter where the magnets will be attached.
- I glued this to the filter. I also cut holes in them to attach the magnets.
- This prevents fish from getting between the filter and the aquarium glass.
- The spacer and the magnet correspond to the width of the filter mat.
- After 2 days, everything was dry, and I could install the filter in the aquarium.
- The magnets were placed against the glass pane, and the filter held securely.
Important note from the customer: the magnets should be suitable for use in wet environments and also waterproof. Depending on the size of the filter, the adhesive strength of the magnets should be taken into account. Please consider the thickness of the glass.
