Once again, we received a truly original magnetic application for a homemade pinboard: Trip Map - a homemade pinboard world map without pins.

After placing our order with you in February, we came across your inspiring blog. We would like to complement existing ideas with our own. We use neodymium magnets to mark our past travel destinations.

It all started with a scratch map that was given to us. Scratch-off world maps, also called scratch maps, are world maps with a coating that can be rubbed off. (Similar to scratch cards.)
We didn't want to present our scratch map as a poster. The scratch-off destinations are highlighted in color. In our opinion, this significantly devalues ​​the map.
We also felt it was too much of a shame to pierce the map with pins.
So it waited for about four years, and several more trips, to be used.
By chance, we came across an old framed picture that almost completely accommodated the scratch map.

For a small fee, we ordered a 0.5 mm thick, 600 x 800 mm steel sheet online. This was fixed in front of the original canvas, behind the scratch map in the frame.
Now we could mark out our past vacation destinations and special places with small rod magnets and special shapes.

Magnets Used:

• Rod magnet Ø 5.0 x 15.0 mm N40 Gold - holds 1 kg
• Rod magnet Ø 4.0 x 10.0 mm N45 nickel - holds 900 g
• Cube magnet 5.0 x 5.0 x 5.0 mm N42 Gold - holds 1.5 kg
• Block magnet 5.0 x 5.0 x 1.2 mm N50 Gold - holds 450 g

In this case, silver rod magnets represent places where one of us has been alone, while the larger gold rod magnets represent shared destinations.
Cube magnets or block magnets are intended to represent travels with our children.
