Acoustic elements attached magnetically
The recording studio underwent acoustic upgrades. It includes a control room and a recording room. We needed to mount broadband absorber panels to the ceiling. The foam panels were glued to the ceiling. This has several disadvantages: Firstly, the panels are permanently fixed and cannot be easily removed or modified. Secondly, the foam, in its supplied form, is not particularly attractive or inviting.
The studio spaces should be visually appealing and inspiring. The 100 x 50 cm absorber panels were custom-made. With acoustically effective Basotect panels measuring 100 x 50 x 10 cm, a 4 mm birch plywood back panel, and acoustic covering fabric.

The ceiling was attached using a magnetic system, which was easy to implement and works perfectly.
Neodymium pot magnet Ø 16.0 x 5.0 mm with counterbore holds 5 kg and matching counterparts metal disc Ø 16 mm with hole and countersink nickel, both from the range of magnet-shop.net. Here you can use 1 to 4 discs.
Working Process

I started by marking the magnet positions. I screwed the metal discs to the ceiling. In this case, it was straightforward. The ceiling is already covered with a wooden structure. No dowels or other complicated constructions are needed. Attach the pot magnets to the back of the elements with simple Spax screws. For added security, I attached four sets of two magnets per element.
This offers the following advantage: Any unevenness in the panels and ceiling is compensated for.

Now the element must be carefully guided from below to the counterparts. The discs and magnets fit together perfectly. It sits absolutely firmly and securely. Acoustic elements magnetically attached in no time.
