Design object - Tower made of reflective Plexiglas with a play of colors
Hello everyone,
I've made something with magnets and Plexiglas.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fully realize my original idea. It was, similar to the pictures below, to build a tower made of neodymium and Plexiglas panels, suspended from a support plate at a 90° angle to the wall.
However, I overestimated the pulling force of the magnets and underestimated gravity ;) In other words, it folds apart when tilted.
So this vertical stack was born out of necessity. The Plexiglas is from the Fluorescent series. I simply bought several samples and peeled off the labels (lighter fluid! Otherwise, it takes forever to fiddle with them...). The Plexiglas reacts very strongly to light with UV components. Since my LED lamp in the room emits UV light, especially in mixed blue tones (or blue, actually ;) ), this enormous play of colors is created. The photos have not been edited!
I used:
- 30 x Block magnet 10.0 x 10.0 x 2.0 mm N45 nickel - holds 1.2 kg
1 x Cube magnet 10.0 x 10.0 x 10.0 mm N42 nickel - holds 7 kg
Despite the tower's beauty, I still think the original wall idea is great. Especially because the neodymium magnets could play to their advantage much better!
