Magnetic paint for creative and magnetic wall design

This product is a real innovation: thanks to the finest, rust-proof iron particles in the water-soluble emulsion paint, our magnetic paints transform any conventional wall into a magnetic surface. The color is more flexible than any conventional magnetic foli and magnetic strip. If a wall has been treated with magnetic paint in black, green, or gray (e.g., from MagPaint or Dupli-Color) from the magnet shop, all materials can be easily attached to the wall with our magnets. The color is also productive. One liter of the special projection paint is enough for around six square meters with a single application.

Which magnets can you use on magnetic paint?

Not every magnet is suitable for our magnetic colors. As is the case with thin ferrous foils, ferrite magnets are usually too weak to hold objects on the wall. Much more suitable are neodymium magnets from our range. These super magnets have a very high adhesive force and are available in many forms. When choosing the right magnets, the thickness of the paint is also important - i.e., how many layers of the magnetic paint you have applied to the respective surface. The thicker it is applied, the higher the magnetic strength.

Applying magnetic paint

You can treat the magnetic paint like any other wall or emulsion paint in your home. After you have prepared the surface, stir the paint you purchased from the magnet shop so that the iron particles contained can mix evenly with the paint particles. Then apply. It doesn't matter here whether you apply the color in an L-shape, wavy shape or in a rectangle. The wall paint itself is not magnetic. However, due to the iron particles they contain, super magnets adhere to the colored surface.

What surface can I use magnetic paint on

With the practical magnetic paint, you can not only paint walls with wallpaper or concrete, but also furniture made of different materials. You can also apply our magnetic paints to wood and plastics. If you have any doubts, we will be happy to help you. Just give us a call if you need more information.

How should the subsurface be prepared?

Before you start painting, you should check the primer on your wall surfaces. Do you paint on plaster, wallpaper or wall paint that has already dried out? The following applies in all cases - the surface must meet certain dry conditions.
So, it must:

  • be firm
  • not be chalking
  • be level and straight

Before applying the special paint, you should remove non-load bearing, old coatings, or old glue paints. You should also consider whether you should remove old wallpaper before applying the magnetic paint to the respective surface.

How often does magnetic wall paint have to be painted?

One liter of magnetic wall paint (Magpaint) is sufficient for a single coat of up to six square meters. We recommend putting at least two coats on the wall. This leads to a higher magnetic effect. If our neodymium magnets should develop their full force of attraction, we recommend even more frequent coatings. With four coats of paint, there is enough iron powder on the wall to achieve an optimal result.

What tool do I need to apply magnetic wall paint

Magnetic colors behave like conventional colors. Use suitable brushes or paint rollers for painting. The material of the brush is irrelevant for the functionality of the paint.

What can I do with a wall with magnetic paint?

Let your creativity take over your mind and body. With our magnetic paint you can create oversized pinboards from conventional wall surfaces or transform a wooden chair in your kitchen into a magnetic surface.

Wall design with magnetic paint

With magnetic paint you can design a flexible magnetic wall and let yourself be creative! The mostly gray magnetic paint can be applied in very different shapes and then designed with many different colors and magnets from the magnet-shop range. For example, you can:

  • Fix notes in the study
  • Pin pictures on the wall in the children's room
  • Attach the poster
  • etc.

Photo wall with magnetic paint

A wall painted with magnetic paint is an extraordinary communication space. It can be designed as a huge photo wall with the simplest of means. Here only neodymium magnets are necessary as a counterpart to project the best memories and the fun you had with your family and friends on the wall. This can also be an individual and great idea for a children's room.

Pinboard with magnetic paint

Let's spin this idea further: Instead of photos, you can also attach your notes and mnemonics to the wall for everyday use. This turns the surface into a magnetic pin board in no time at all, which you can equip according to your wishes.

Magnetic paints as blackboard paint

You can also use magnetic paint as blackboard paint or blackboard lacquer. This turns an ordinary board into a magnetic eye-catcher - quickly and practically. You can of course paint over the gray, magnetic blackboard paint in the colors you like. The thicker you coat the table lacquer, the better the magnets adhere to the surface.

MagPaint as an alternative to the whiteboard

Whiteboards are often only used to attach notes or flyers to them with magnets. If you are just about to buy it, you should consider whether it is better to use a whiteboard or magnetic paint as "whiteboard paint" instead. This allows you to turn any surface into a magnetic board without it looking like an ordinary whiteboard. This is also ideal for all DIY do-it-yourselfers.

Can magnetic paint be painted over?

If you have applied enough magnetic paint, the wall can be painted over with any dispersion varnish. However, you should wait at least six hours after the last coat before applying the topcoat in order to achieve an attractive colored result. For any subsequent removal of the magnetic paint, you should either apply the paint to removable wallpaper or try to carefully sand off the magnetic paint.
