Magnetic thermal insulation
Windows are one of the biggest weak points in the thermal insulation of living spaces. Especially in winter, a significant amount of heat escapes through them to the outside.
An additional magnetically attached acrylic glass pane on the inside of the room can significantly reduce heat loss.
The following instructions describe step by step how to install such an additional interior pane cleanly, without leaving any residue and without making any structural changes.
Reducing heat loss through windows
Required materials

- Self-adhesive metal tape, white, width 13 mm, primer for magnets
- Magnetic tape, self-adhesive, white, width 12.7 mm
Alternatively, we offer:
Magnetic tape self-adhesive on one side - 12.7 x 1.5 mm type A premium adhesive in black
Magnetic tape self-adhesive on one side - 12.7 x 1.5 mm type B premium adhesive in black - Acrylic glass plate 3 mm, custom-made
- Fabric gloves
- Sheet metal shears
Preparing the acrylic glass plate
(can also be Plexiglas)
- Determine the window dimensions. Measure the clear height and width of the interior window exactly.
Add 26 mm to both measurements so that the acrylic glass pane will later have sufficient contact surface for the magnetic tape. (Example: height 1100 mm, width 1970 mm) - Prepare the acrylic glass (can be ordered online cut to size on request – there are several suppliers). Have the acrylic glass plate made to the calculated dimensions.
- Leave the protective film on the plate completely for the time being to avoid scratches and dirt.
Attach metal tape to the window frame
Attach the self-adhesive metal tape flush to the inner window frame.
Leave a gap of approx. 1 mm gap at the bottom left and right and at the top left and right to ensure minimal ventilation.

Positioning the magnetic tape
Apply the self-adhesive magnetic tape flush with the outer edge onto the acrylic glass plate. First, peel off the protective film from the magnetic tape only about 4 cm from the edge.

Attach the magnetic tape completely
Apply the magnetic tape all the way around and only then peel off the remaining protective film piece by piece.
Wear cloth gloves while doing this to avoid leaving fingerprints on the acrylic glass and adhesive surfaces.

Attach acrylic glass pane
- Hold the finished acrylic glass plate flush against the window frame and carefully guide it toward the adhesive metal tape.
- Release the acrylic glass pane. It will be automatically drawn to the frame by magnetic force and will audibly click into place with a slight
- The installation is now complete!

Remove film
- The film can now be completely removed.
- This solution can be removed at any time, does not damage the window frame, and can be used seasonally.
