Blackboard color: Practical special lacquer for writing on with chalk
Blackboard paint is characterized by countless possible uses. Since the product is ideal for painting, playing and learning at school, it is particularly popular for use in children's rooms. With the help of blackboard paints and varnishes, you can quickly and easily transform any imaginable surface into a surface that can be written on with chalk. The labeled surfaces can be wiped off with a damp cloth at any time.
What exactly is blackboard color?
Blackboard paint gives you the opportunity to use your walls in a very special way. By placing the product on a surface, it turns into an area that you can • describe, paint and decorate to your heart's content. • can add important notes and reminders. The days when you had to remember all-important things to do every day with sticky notes are now over. Since blackboard paint is obtained from rubber lacquer and is water-insoluble, you can write on the surfaces with chalk repeatedly and then simply wipe it off with a damp cloth. After the board has dried, it is ready for use again as usual and can be written on with chalk.
What can I use blackboard paint for?
There is probably hardly a child in the world who is not happy when they can let off steam artistically on a wall and paint it as much as possible. A writable blackboard surface is also ideal as an alternative, to the memo board above the desk in the children's room or at the parents' workplace at home (if you prefer a magnetic wall surface, we recommend our magnetic paint instead of blackboard paint). This way, your kids can always keep an eye on the school timetable or you can quickly write down important notes that you must not forget.
You can also use blackboard paint to paint other areas of your home, such as the living room, bathroom or hallway. If you apply the paint on a certain section of the wall here, you can write beautiful quotes, notes and ideas on it. A blackboard in the kitchen, on the other hand, functions as an optimal shopping list. You can also use blackboard paint, for example, to beautify a worn piece of furniture and other furnishings:
- table tops
- flower pots
- and many other things
Since blackboard paint adheres to many different surfaces and covers perfectly, you can use it to process a wide variety of objects. There are practically no limits to your imagination. With the products from our online shop, you have the opportunity to integrate your new table perfectly into your existing furnishings.
What is the difference between blackboard paint and blackboard lacquer?
The two terms blackboard paint and blackboard lacquer are often used interchangeably. However, there are differences between the two variants:
- Has a matte finish
- Is particularly suitable for embellishing walls and furniture
- The dense pigmentation causes a very high color intensity on walls
- Is characterized by a glossy surface
- Can be applied to surfaces made of plastic, metal, wood, glass and stone
- Can be written on just like normal blackboard paint
Be sure to buy a water-based blackboard paint that is free of harmful substances such as lead or VOC (volatile organic compounds). At magnet-shop.com, you will only receive products that comply with the current RoHS guidelines and consciously avoid dangerous substances.
How to apply blackboard paint to a wall or other surfaces?
The application of blackboard paint usually works uncomplicated. When painting, it behaves just like any other color. It is important that you stir the product sufficiently in advance before you apply it to the wall. You should also adequately cover and mask floors or other objects nearby so that they do not become dirty. Smooth and absorbent substrates are the ideal basis for blackboard paint, including:
Ideally, you should use a paint roller to apply the paint to larger areas. To get the best possible result, it is best to use a foam roller.
For smaller areas, however, a brush is ideal. Also, make sure that the area is free of dust and wallpaper residues and dry before painting. Only in this way can the blackboard paint adhere optimally.
Rough surfaces, such as plaster, should be sanded down beforehand. The situation is similar with surfaces made of woodchip wallpaper. Although you could theoretically paint them with blackboard paint, the bumps would still show through afterwards. We therefore recommend that you better remove wallpaper in advance or cover the corresponding wall with a chipboard or plasterboard. If a surface is particularly absorbent, it may also be advisable to apply a deep primer beforehand.
How long does blackboard paint take to dry?
Since blackboard paint is insoluble in water, you should always wear protective clothing before applying it. This will help you avoid unsightly splashes of paint on your clothing, which are very difficult to remove later. As a rule, it is sufficient to paint a surface once with blackboard paint. In this case, half a liter of paint is sufficient for an area of approximately 5 m². After the paint has dried for 48 hours, you can go ahead and inaugurate your new board as you wish!
