Strong neodymium magnets (NdFeB) – The super magnets
Neodymium magnets are also commercially available under the designation neodymium-iron-boron or NdFeB magnets. Neodymium is one of the so-called "rare earths". The special and difficult thing about these metals is not their rarity, but the complicated extraction and release from other compounds. Accordingly, neodymium magnets are quite expensive compared to other magnets. But they are among the strongest magnets in the world - and this is already the case with small models of just a few centimeters. Before you buy neodymium magnets, you should think about the shape that is ideal for you.

Tip: Self-adhesive magnets are extremely versatile, as they stick practically anywhere.
Strong magnets for hobby and industry
Industry and hobbyists rely on an effective force that is many times greater than that of ordinary magnets - for example compared to ferrite magnets. New technologies ensure that the heat point at which neodymium magnets lose their magnetism has already shifted far upwards. Scientists assume that both the magnetic force and the hot spot can even be significantly improved soon. In this respect, neodymium magnets are not only ultra-strong, but can also be used at full power under extreme conditions - such as high temperatures in industrial plants. Branches of industry such as PC and mobile phone manufacturers, engine workshops and high technologies are now unthinkable without neodymium magnets. Hard drives run faster, speakers perform better, it all works because of a small magnet with superpowers.
Why are neodymium magnets called super magnets?
We also refer to neodymium magnets as super magnets because their adhesive force is much stronger than that of ordinary ferrite magnets. Some hold six hundred times their own weight. This can be measured using the energy density, which is given in kilojoules per cubic meter (kJ/m³). Ferrite magnets usually have an energy density of around 30 kJ/m³. Neodymium magnets, on the other hand, have a density of up to 500 kJ/m³. This makes them real super magnets.
Caution: Use caution when handling neodymium magnets
Of course, extra strong magnets also inspire private individuals. However, a few principles should be observed.
⚠ Neodymium magnetic metals should be kept away from people with pacemakers
⚠ Children should be kept away from magnets - especially smaller models, as they can choke on them
⚠ Neodymium magnets should not be placed near fire; Welding and soldering is also taboo
Otherwise, you can tinker with neodymium magnets or come up with neat gimmicks. Find your bunch of keys with a rodmagnet or place cubemagnets, blockmagnets or spherical magnets in different sizes on a shelf as decoration. You can also pick up metal shavings and sewing needles with magnets or take a walk and see what sticks to your discmagnets.
How do the different types of neodymium magnets work?
In our shop you can buy different variants of neodymium super magnets.
The advantage of self-adhesive magnets is that they stick to almost all surfaces.
You peel off the protective film, stick on the adhesive part and the remaining magnet parts stick together while the permanent magnet is firmly in place. You may be familiar with neodymium ring magnets from doctor's surgeries - they are used there in MRT machines. You can easily cut neodymium magnetic tape and attach various things to the wall, fridge, cupboard, or various other surfaces.
Otherwise, the different widths, heights and diameters of the magnetic powerhouses are suitable for many possible applications.
How stable is the adhesive force of neodymium magnets?
With normal handling, neodymium magnets do not lose their holding power or adhesion. However, direct contact with strong magnets and high operating temperatures can lead to demagnetization.
How corrosion resistant are neodymium magnets?
The large and small strong rare earth magnets rust comparatively quickly. This is due to their high iron content. To prevent this, most models are provided with a coating. In humid environments, for example, epoxy coatings and rubber coatings have proven their worth. It is important that the coating is and remains intact.
For example, if you handle neodymium magnets improperly - for example, let them hit or rub against each other - cracks can appear in the coating.
Therefore, always check which magnets are suitable for which purposes.
At what temperatures do neodymium magnets demagnetize?
When neodymium magnets demagnetize depends on the magnetization quality. With the most common grade N45, the maximum temperature is around 80° C. If the magnet gets warmer, the magnetic properties are lost.
Is neodymium harmful?
Neodymium magnets are the strongest magnets in the world, so you should handle them with care. Small children should not be allowed near the magnetic metals, as small models can be swallowed. This can be extremely dangerous. Neodymium magnets are not directly poisonous, but if several of them stick together in the intestine, for example, this can lead to life-threatening complications. As with other magnets, there is always a risk of catching bruises - for example if you hold your hand between two large disc magnets. Since neodymium magnets are particularly strong, the risk of injury is correspondingly high.
If you buy strong magnets, you should always handle them with foresight and care.
By the way: In principle, neodymium magnets do not harm the human body. Magnetic jewelry is even said to have healing properties - but this has not been scientifically proven.
Is a neodymium magnet strong enough to affect electricity meters?
In principle, it is possible to manipulate or stop electricity meters with magnets. Ordinary magnets are usually too weak, but neodymium models are strong enough to break the disc in the meter from the outside.
However, the slowdown would only be short-lived and at the same time the magnet would damage the electricity meter due to the heat generated. In addition, electricity providers can usually identify when such a defect occurs. Finally, manipulating the power level is just plain illegal, so you should refrain from doing so.
Robust beauties for many uses
The simple metallic beauty is not only a joy for figures made of neodymium magnetic spheres. Maybe you also use conemagnets and discmagnets for magic. With small and large neodymium magnets, you can let your imagination run wild. In addition, neodymium magnets make wonderful, unusual gifts.
