Buy the right glue online

It's easy to lose track of things in the adhesive jungle. After all, you can order dozens, if not hundreds, of different glues online. This wide range of products may seem intimidating, but finding the right glue isn't as difficult as you might think. These questions will help you in your search:

  • Which materials do I want to bond?
  • Is the adhesive area large or small?
  • How much weight does the adhesive need to hold?
  • How quickly does the adhesive surface have to dry?

Based on these criteria, you limit the selection considerably and then only must choose between different versions of the respective special adhesive.

It is never wrong to buy an all-purpose glue. For special applications, however, this cannot help either. For example, when it comes to attaching strong magnets or gluing wood outdoors. For this you need special magnetic adhesives or wood glues that are specifically made for outdoor use.

The popular super glue is also useful, but not always the right choice. This is because it is primarily suitable for small areas and can also damage neodymium magnets. With large surfaces it is important that the adhesive does not dry out too quickly. Because the application time is longer here due to the larger area. A spray adhesive, for example, is ideal for such.

With said neodymium magnets, we recommend using our magnetic adhesive instead. These will not damage magnetic surfaces and attach conveniently to various surfaces such as wood, plastic, stone, and other materials. A smooth and clean surface is crucial - only then does the magnetic adhesive guarantee a firm and secure hold.

Find the right magnetic adhesive

Many adhesives are suitable for magnets - for example the 2-component or superglue. Under no circumstances should you use so-called hot glue. These have a demagnetizing effect on neodymium.

Buy magnetic glue and others for different applications

The purpose of the respective adhesive is often evident from its name. For gluing fabrics, you should buy textile glue. If you want to decorate suede pieces, you need to buy leather glue. Buy porcelain glue for repairing cups or vases. In the case of cracked glass, on the other hand, it is best to use glass adhesive.

With other adhesives, however, it is not so easy. For example, you don't buy epoxy glue to glue epoxy. Rather, it is a 2-component adhesive made of epoxy resin and hardener. You should buy this if you are looking for a particularly strong adhesive bond.

In the meantime, gluing is also increasingly being advertised as an alternative to drilling. An attractive idea - it's faster, you don't have to drill ugly holes in materials and there is less mess. In some areas, glue is actually a good alternative, for example for wood. You can also buy the right metal adhesive or stone adhesive from us to avoid holes in the mailbox or in marble.

Store magnetic adhesive and others correctly

Whether you buy magnetic glue, craft glue or industrial glue, it is certainly important to you that your glue lasts particularly long. In principle, adhesive has a limited shelf life, the exact shelf life can be between a few months and two years, depending on the item. It is therefore important that you store it properly. Then it often has a longer shelf life than the manufacturer specifies.

Here's how you should store glue:

  • between + 10 °C and + 20 °C
  • dry
  • dark

It is also extremely important for durability that you reseal opened packaging as quickly as possible and first remove excess adhesive from the openings. If leftovers are stuck to the opening, the package will not seal airtight and the contents will react with the humidity, rendering them useless in the long run.
