2-component adhesive: strong bonds for a wide range of applications
Whether you call it a reactive adhesive, structural adhesive, construction adhesive, or, as we call it, a two-component adhesive, the most important thing is that it bonds a wide variety of materials and is water-, shock-, and impact-resistant. Its somewhat unusual application—mixing the two components before application—is child's play with the matching double syringe. In our online shop, you'll find the right adhesive for your project, along with the corresponding syringe, at our usual low price.

2-component adhesive consisting of binder and hardener
A two-component adhesive consists of two main components: the binder and the hardener. The hardener is often a synthetic resin, particularly epoxy resin. Both components are resistant to environmental influences if they are kept separate.
The actual adhesive strength is only created through mixing. For this reason, they are stored separately until use. Mixing the components results in an extremely strong adhesive that cannot be chemically dissolved and can only be removed mechanically.
A 2K adhesive is characterized by its temperature stability and resistance to acids, UV light, and fuels. It can be stored for almost an unlimited period and is ideal for bonding a wide variety of materials. This makes the two-component adhesive an indispensable auxiliary material in industry and is used, among other things, in the following applications:
- Mechanical and automotive engineering
- Electrical manufacturing
- Medical technology
Mixing 2-component adhesive: it's that easy
Before applying the 2-component adhesive, the two components must be mixed in a specific ratio. This ratio can be found in the manufacturer's instructions and varies depending on the product. Usually—as with the adhesives in our range—the mixing ratio is 1:1, which is why 2-component adhesives are sold with matching syringes, also called dual-chamber cartridges. These cartridges contain both components in separate chambers. To use the adhesive, simply press the syringe to mix the contents and make the adhesive ready for use.
NOTICE
If the two-component adhesive is supplied without this tool, you can also mix the two components manually. To do this, mix them with a stick for about one minute.
Apply 2-component adhesive correctly
After mixing the components, you need to act quickly: 2-component adhesives cure quickly, so the pot life, or the time during which the adhesive can be processed, is relatively short. It varies from product to product, but is around five minutes, as is the case with the 2-component epoxy adhesive in our shop.
This applies when handling 2-component adhesives:
After mixing, you can immediately apply the adhesive and join the surfaces to be bonded. The surfaces must be free of dust and grease.
They must be secured until cured. The drying time of a two-component adhesive is approximately ten minutes.
It takes about 24 hours for a two-component adhesive to fully cure.
However, you can continue working with it after about 45 minutes. Due to its clarity and colorlessness, you can paint over it. It also exhibits high stability even under mechanical stress and can even be drilled without breaking!
Application areas of 2-component adhesive
Thanks to its versatility, the adhesive is used in numerous industrial sectors, such as lightweight metal construction and the automotive industry. Craftsmen, such as tilers, also frequently rely on two-component epoxy resin adhesives.
But not only professionals benefit from this powerful adhesive – it is also ideal for DIY enthusiasts. It is ideal for:
- Repairs
- Filling cracks
- Leveling uneven surfaces
Since it is useful in so many situations, it is always worth having some 2-component adhesive in stock.
For which materials are 2-component adhesive suitable?
You can use 2-component adhesives on many different materials, including:
- Plastic
- Metal
- Concrete
- Wood
- Stone
- Ceramics
- Glass
